1958

Inception and Establishment

This center is located in the north of Tabriz city. The initial building of this center was started by the benefactors of the city, especially the Khuyler family, under the title of Charity Board in 1337, and it was put into operation in 1339.

1966

Medical Center Establishment

As a service to the needy of the community, a medical center was established in 1345 without paying rent by the Charity Board. The university was handed over and from that time until 1362 it operated as a center for internal diseases.

1983

Transition to Ophthalmology

In 1362, due to the fact that the eye department in the Imam Khomeini (RA) educational and therapeutic center was operating in a small and limited space and had many problems in this field. Due to the foresight, scientific ability and efforts of the director of the training group at the time Mr. Dr. Qarabaghi and respected professors of ophthalmology and the assistance of the university officials, this center was given to the ophthalmology training group and entered a new phase of activity as a charitable ophthalmology training center.

Post-Revolution

Expansion and Development

After the victory of the Islamic revolution, with special attention to the development and equipping of the hospital and the efforts of the relevant officials, this hospital became the largest eye surgery center in the northwest, and many eye surgeries could not be performed in this region.

Before this, patients had to go to Tehran or they were sent abroad with the efforts of experienced doctors and hardworking hospital personnel.

1984

Eye Transplant Center

Since 1364, this center expanded its activity as the only eye transplant center in the northwest of the country. By accepting Floshib in the super-specialized category of anterior and posterior segments, it has added another golden leaf to its honors.

Scientific Development

Independent Ophthalmology Department

Before the Islamic Revolution, the Department of Ophthalmology and the Department of Otorhinolaryngology jointly formed a scientific group called the Department of Eye and Otorhinolaryngology. In 1362, the Ophthalmology Department of the School of Medicine was separated from Imam Hospital and established an independent and specialized Nikokari Ophthalmology Hospital.

Current Status

Modern Specialized Center

Currently, this group operates in an independent hospital with 67 beds in an infrastructure of about 7000 square meters. Since 2016, the permission to start the fellowship course in the anterior and posterior segments has been obtained, and residency training in the above-mentioned courses is done for one person in each field every year.

After a lot of follow-up, the permission of the pediatrics and strabismus course was also obtained. And in the continuation of the preparations The glaucoma fellowship course, which is one of the basic needs of the country, will be launched, and the necessary correspondence with the relevant ministry is underway, which is expected to be launched from October 1403.
